The white stretchy plugs that come out of pimples are usually a combination of sebum (oil), dead skin cells, and sometimes bacteria that have been trapped within the hair follicle. These plugs are commonly known as sebaceous filaments or comedones. They can appear white or slightly yellow and are a normal part of the skin’s process of shedding dead skin cells and regulating oil production.
