Hormonal acne, also known as acne vulgaris, typically appears as inflamed, red bumps or cysts on the skin. These pimples are often deeper within the skin compared to regular surface acne and can be more painful. Hormonal pimples commonly occur on the lower face and jawline and may persist or worsen around the time of menstrual cycles in women. They can be more challenging to treat than regular pimples due to their hormonal nature.
