Bacterial acne, also known as inflammatory acne, can feel painful, tender, and swollen. It is often characterized by red bumps or pustules filled with pus. This type of acne occurs when the pores become clogged with excess oil and dead skin cells, leading to bacterial overgrowth and inflammation. If left untreated, bacterial acne can result in more severe breakouts and scarring.
